Surface pattern design
These are pattern designs for fabric and wallpaper printing. Before sketching a rough outline, I begin by researching current trends in fashion and home decor to create a product that is appealing to the current market. After deciding on a few trends to include, I sketch the major elements on paper, then scan and digitize them in Autodesk Sketchbook or Illustrator. I add detail and clean up the repeat before uploading them to Spoonflower to be sold on fabric, wallpaper, and home goods. To date, I have licensed my patterns over thirty time, with my designs being featured on throw pillows, tea towels, and handbags.

Project brief
Hip Haven is an Austin-based, independent furniture boutique specializing in mid-century modern inspired pieces. As the design assistant, I was tasked with redesigning the product catalog to accommodate for more product lines and for a larger printed format.
The first step was to consolidate all assets and copy to ensure accurate turnover. I began laying out a basic page design, working with the existing content to guide the design. Once I had successfully transferred all of the content and added the new product lines, I began to design the layout, informed by current product catalogs as well as mid-century graphic language. I also updated the typefaces for readability and established new type systems for use throughout.
For the product photography, I worked with the owner of the boutique to find the highest quality photos. I removed the background for each photo and edited the lighting digitally.

Project brief
For this class project, I was tasked with choosing an American product from the food and drink industry and designing assets for its release in the Philippines. I chose Blue Bell as my brand because I wanted to challenge myself to market such a quintessentially American brand to a new national audience without compromising its identity.
Ideation process
I began by researching popular Filipino desserts and snacks to identify graphic design and packaging trends. I continued researching Blue Bell’s brand. While their iconic half-gallon container has a specific look, some deviation occur, such as with Blue Bell’s no sugar ice creams. I drew inspirations from these deviations to design packaging that would fit in a Filipino supermarket. As part of the marketing campaign, I developed visual identities for two limited-edition ice cream flavors inspired by Filipino desserts. The primary elements I wanted to include were rounded typefaces and minimal illustrations, drawing from my previous research.

After designing the packaging for the two limited-edition flavors, I used the same visual language to design advertisements for the marketing campaign. I designed two graphics for Instagram stories, each featuring one of the two special ice cream flavors.

For the larger scale ad, I drew from my research into Blue Bell’s taglines and ads over the years. Blue Bell’s main tagline over the years is “The Best Ice Cream in the Country.” I wanted to reference this while announcing its arrival in a new country.

Project brief
The Master’s in Health Care Transformation, awarded jointly by the Dell Medical School and the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin, is designed for health care professionals who want to lead change in existing organizations, become transformational leaders, and create high-value services in the health sector.
This brochure re-design was completed as client work at the Liberal Arts Instructional Technology Services development studio. As the junior designer on this project, I was responsible for sketching layouts, creating the file and graphic assets from scratch, and preparing the file for print.

Sketching in booklet form
After being assigned an infographic project, I decided to focus on beginner crochet stitches. However, condensing it all on one page would make the information hard to process, so instead, I designed an eight-page informational booklet. To begin designing my booklet, I decided to sketch directly into a rough prototype. From there, I refined my sketches and began printing higher-definition prototypes. All illustrations were photographed by me and digitally altered in Photoshop for clarity.

Risograph printing
After finalizing the design, I printed a master copy of the file to submit to the UT Riso Room. I chose to print on letterweight paper, since the booklet had to be folded during assembly. The final booklet has a limited run of 21 prints, complete with beginner crochet stitches.
